January 2023 was the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior, Matt Wayner, Editor. That issue included a seminal paper on dopamine as the reward neurotransmitter by Arnie Lippa and colleagues Seymour Antelman, Alan Fisher, and Don Canfield. It was also in this first issue that Klaus Miczek published a paper on the effects of anxiolytic drugs on conditioned suppression. A great deal of progress has occurred over the past 50 years in the experimental study of anxiety and anxiolytic drugs. It would be a fitting tribute to the impact of this journal to capture the progress in these areas of research.Manuscript submission information:
