Overview
The extensive geographic scope of the Asian Continental Margin has been sculpted by significant global-scale phenomena across various timescales. Key factors shaping this region include the development of continental ice sheets, fluctuations in sea ice, the Asian monsoon, and oceanic circulation systems. These factors have significantly influenced the area's ecosystems and biogeochemical processes. Comprehending these changes is crucial for deciphering the intricate interplay among geological phenomena, the Earth's climate-ocean system, and life. In this special issue, titled "Paleoenvironmental Changes along the Asian Continental Margin from the Neogene to Recent Timescales," we welcome new paleoenvironmental data from the Asian Continental Margin to highlight the interactions between ice sheets and sea ice, coupled with atmospheric and oceanic processes, on both a regional to global-scale.
