Overview
Complex nonlinear dynamics is an interdisciplinary field of active research involving applied mathematics, physics, computer science, biology, and environmental sciences. The aim of this special issue is to promote cooperation between leading experts, both theoreticians and experimentalists, working in these active research fields. Nonlinear optics and laser physics feature prominently in this issue. Of particular interest are soliton frequency combs associated with the formation of localized light structures in the time domain. The final section deals with spatial self-organization in arid landscapes, including desertification due to climate change.
