Overview
This SI is aimed at collecting recent developments in the field of nonlinear dynamics applied to engineering systems, with the aim of honouring Prof. Jerzy Warminski on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
Apart from belonging to the wide field of nonlinear dynamics, there are no specific research targets, and theoretical, analytical, numerical and experimental works are welcome, including the combination of different methodological approaches. Interdisciplinary papers are of interest, too, as well as classical (e.g. Lagrangian mechanics) and new applications (e.g. data-driven and AI based systems).
The goal is to update the community about the recent achievements in this field of research that has solid roots but where there is a lot still to be done, in particular towards the applications of nonlinear dynamics to engineering design, thus giving some useful guidelines to the next generation of scholars.
