Special issue information:
The field of infectious disease epidemiology should aim for excellence in research, but also in research culture. This special issue aims to showcase, through a series of perspective pieces, barriers as well as actionable solutions to achieving equal and inclusive research opportunities and fostering diversity in our field, from the individual and institutional to the global level. The actions highlighted will be cross-cutting, aiming to embrace global diversity and address any dimension of intersectoral academic privilege (e.g., gender, sexuality, skin colour, language, neurodiversity, mental health, disability, childhood, religion and culture, caring duties, funding resources, institution). Featuring the perspectives from a diverse group, we can learn from each other and co-develop best practices to achieve a positive research culture for infectious disease epidemiologists.
