Special issue information:
This special issue of Electrochimica Acta comprises a selection of papers presented at the 7th International Symposium on Surface Imaging/Spectroscopy at the Solid/Liquid Interface (ISSIS-2024), held from June 5th to 7th, 2024, at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Organized triennially since 2006, the ISSIS focuses on various aspects of synthesis and characterization of new materials for electrochemistry and energy related applications as well as in situ studies of electrified interfaces.
The symposium served as a platform for esteemed scientists from diverse fields, including electrochemistry, surface science, plating, corrosion, electrocatalysis, nanomaterials, photovoltaic and fuel cells, and secondary batteries. The discussions encompassed both experimental and theoretical advancements in interfacial solid/liquid chemistry.
Conference presentations explored the following key areas:
New materials and nanomaterials for energy storage, energy conversion, and sensing applications.
The application of spectroscopic, microscopic, scanning probe microscopy (SPM), and electrochemical techniques in the study of surfaces modified by metal oxides, semiconductors, polymers, colloids, hybrid materials, and nano-sized catalysts.
High-resolution imaging of clusters, biomolecules, and biological systems, along with their characterization using electrochemical methods.
Exploration of the fundamentals of surface structure, reactivity, and electron transfer, including a comparison of experimental and theoretical results.
