Overview
Recent trends like ongoing digitization, climate change pandemics, and energy and military conflicts have disrupted supply chains worldwide. Further, digitalization has enabled new business models, such as e-commerce and direct-to-consumer sales, which can disrupt traditional supply chain distribution. These models often require faster, more flexible, and more responsive supply chains to meet customer demands in this era of digitalization. In this sense, there is necessary to rebuild Global Supply Chain Distribution (GSCD) to perform resilient and more efficient supply chains. Governments and enterprises have faced challenges which have altered the traditional supply chain risk management (SCRM) paradigms to survive and thrive in the current context. However, using technology could improve supply chain resilience by enabling companies to respond quickly to disruptions and risks. For example, real-time data and analytics can help supply chain managers identify potential risks and take proactive steps to mitigate them. In this context, the future of supply chains is being transformed globally by developing a more digitalized environment where value chains are connected and distribution systems are increasingly intelligent, autonomous and automated. So new advances are helping to improve the resilience of supply chains worldwide, and businesses are improving their complexities in the digital era.

Special issue information:

Ascending global exchange of natural resources has accelerated the urgency in developing complex risk assessment models in conventional supply chains. In the past, several models were designed to evaluate the potential risks of exchanging natural resources, such as minerals, water, and energy. Nevertheless, recent technological developments have changed the overall supply chain management scenario. In addition, the need for transparency over a large part of the value-adding activities within global supply chains raises the question of the future creation of competitive advantages through innovative supply chain management strategies and advances in managing natural resources in the era of digitalization. Although, it is generally presumed that digitalization can help to facilitate a more efficient, sustainable, and transparent exchange of natural resources worldwide. However, the digitalization of supply chains also presents some challenges. One of the main issues is the digital divide, which refers to unequal access to digital technology between different regions and countries. This can create disparities in the availability and distribution of natural resources, affecting the sustainability of supply chains. Consequently, this call is essential to advance new studies and analytics to measure the efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of GSCD and natural resources markets on economic growth, energy prices or environment in different markets. This special issue will include empirical studies, reviews, and short papers on global supply, chain distribution and natural resources markets in the era of digitalization.

Objectives and Scope:
------------
This special issue aims to solve empirical gaps, including new paradigms in GSCD and natural resources in the context of helping policymakers in decisions. The complementary objectives also consider the effects of management and circular economy on supply chain distribution and natural resources markets, where the article’s collection aims to bridge a knowledge gap between global supply chain distribution and natural resources markets and global problems, including energy supply and environmental problems by collecting high-quality research papers from a global perspective.
